Event Details

Take the opportunity to discuss your career or practice one-on-one with respected arts industry professional, Bruce Heiser. He is the Director of Bruce Heiser Projects and former Director of Heiser Galleries.

Use these one-hour sessions to discuss matters most relevant to you. Topics of discussion may include:

– Mapping your career goals, strategies and direction
– Discussing project or exhibition ideas
– Gaining feedback on your portfolio

Participants can attend either in-person or via Skype.

Participants to Bring:

– Questions, CVs or resumes, resources, artwork, portfolios or other items to discuss during your consultation.

A computer and internet access will be provided should you wish to use any online resources during your consultation.

Bruce Heiser: Before opening his own gallery space in late 2004, Bruce Heiser worked with respected Brisbane based art dealer Philip Bacon AM for eight years, between 1996 and 2004. From November 2004 through to December 2017 Heiser Galleries represented and exhibited a diverse and engaging group of leading Australian artists who produced work in a variety of media, including photography, painting and print making, ceramics, and sculpture. Closing the gallery space in December 2017, the business was rebranded as Bruce Heiser Projects.

 

Amongst his many leadership roles, Bruce has served as the Queensland State Chair of the Australian Commercial Galleries Association between November 2007 and November 2012, sitting on the national board during this period. He has acted as a mentor to disadvantaged artists through the Wesley Mission’s initiative Art from the Margins, and between 2010 and 2018 Bruce was a member of the Queensland Regional Committee for The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust. Bruce has also been a registered valuer under the Commonwealth Government’s Cultural Gifts Program since March 2005. He completed a Bachelor of Arts (Double Major, Classics and Ancient History) from University of Queensland in 1988.
