Take a more of a business-like perspective of your career development, and learn about a range of introductory topics to get your thinking started. The workshop begins with an overview of the arts business world. Participants will then look at some of the preliminary work required to establish a business.

A number of business models are discussed along with some practical exercises in developing a business profile. Participants are given the insight and tools to be able to begin setting up a business and information on where to go for further information.

Please bring pen and paper or laptop for note-taking, and lunch if required. There are a number of dining options available in close proximity to the venue if needed. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.

Stephen Clark began working in the arts industry in Queensland in 1985. From a successful performing arts background he has worked extensively around the state in arts management and touring, event & festival production, cultural development and tourism destination marketing. Stephen’s successful marketing and management consulting business activities have included a diverse range of projects for an equally diverse range of clients from the public and private sector in regional and remote Queensland working with local government, local business’ and communities to enhance sense of place and identity, promote creative enterprise and advance professional development in the arts sector. Stephen holds a Master of Business Degree from the University of Queensland, he is a member of Australian Business Volunteers and was an arts business advisor with the former Australian Business Arts Foundation.
