Artiz Public

Make your mark on Toowoomba, the street art capital of Queensland! Join us at the University of Southern Queensland for a contemporary street art program with a difference. Design and create a large mural and explore an extensive outdoor gallery of public art. This program is open to young artists aged 14 – 18.

Dates:  Wednesday 27 September – Friday 29 September
                (Residential students to arrive Tuesday 26 September)
Venue: University of Southern Queensland, Toowoomba
                Accommodation is provided on a twin share basis near
                 the University of Southern Queensland for residential students.
Cost:     Residential students – $330 for three days (3 nights), fully inclusive*
                Day students – $220 for three days**

* Includes full board and lodging, workshops and materials
** Includes lunch, workshops and materials

Regional Students: You may be eligible to receive a travel subsidy to assist you to attend the program, thanks to Brian Tucker Accounting. Please contact Flying Arts for details.

Young Artists – Develop your Practice!

Collaborate with other artists to create a public art mural on a 30m x 3m wall! You’ll learn principles of concept development and gain skills in aerosol, stencil and tape work. Take a tour of the First Coat murals in Toowoomba and have some great holiday fun!

Meet the Artists

Grace Dewar

Grace Dewar is a curator passionate about public art projects, particularly in regional areas. She currently co-directs local creative hub, Kontraband Studios and coordinates First Coat murals across South East QLD.

Ian McCallum

Ian McCallum is an artist and sign writer, interested in large-scale, outdoor artworks. With a background in graffiti and sign writing, his work is a culmination of found textures and letter forms. McCallum regularly facilitates workshops, public art projects and events. 

Jordan Hart

Jordan Hart specializes in papercutting and stencil art. He draws inspiration from popular culture, the icon, exposure to consumer society and their impact. He is also a Head of Department and secondary art teacher.
