Artists and teachers are invited to join us for Flying Arts’ innovative Connecting Arts with School Curriculum (CASC) seminar in Stanthorpe. Both educators and artists will come away with new skills and ideas and be equipped to confidently plan and deliver lessons combining arts practice with non-arts curriculum areas. Learn the principles and practice of collaboration for arts-rich classroom experiences.

Get up to speed with the implementation of the Australian Curriculum: The Arts, investigate recent case studies of successful artist/teacher collaborations and take away practical ideas for the classroom on topics currently being taught in all year levels.

Establish connections with artists and arts educators in your region, strengthen community ties, and forge long-lasting collaborative relationships that can help inform your teaching and/or practice. This session is most relevant to primary and middle-school teachers, but high-school teachers will may also benefit from attending.

This workshop will give an overview of the Australian Curriculum: The Arts. It will use case studies on collaboration in the classroom and research findings to explore classroom collaboration in practice and examine challenges and solutions. It will also give artists and teachers an opportunity to network.

About the Facilitator

Therese Flynn-Clarke DESATTherese Flynn-Clarke works using a number of mediums including basketry, sculptural fibre art, eco-dyeing, ceramics and mixed media, which all reflect her deep connection to the natural world from where her inspiration is drawn. She is a prolific and committed artist as well as a tutor and teacher, and a respected member of many community arts groups and events.
