Honouring the late Mervyn
Moriarty OAM
|
|
|
Flying
Arts was delighted to hear that our founder, the late Mervyn Moriarty,
was recently awarded the Order of Australia Medal in the Australia Day
2023 Honours List for his service to the visual arts throughout
Queensland and Australia.
Merv
is an inspirational and legendary figure throughout regional and remote
Queensland artist communities. He connected artists and art lovers
alike through the opportunities he provided so selflessly to those who
with limited access to the visual arts.
The
vision that Merv set out to achieve back in 1971 when founded Flying
Arts is what continues to drive us today to support and grow the
life-long practice and appreciation of the visual arts and regional
arts for all Queenslanders.
A
wonderful and well-deserved honour for us all to celebrate.
Congratulations Merv!
