Recently over the June-July school holidays, we were thrilled to be able to offer once again our popular 'Visual Field' program for creative teens. A very enthusiastic and talented group of students participated in this wonderful jammed packed program.

Over three fabulous days, students met with artists, curators, and industry professionals to gain insight into the arts sector and the many diverse career pathways on offer. The program featured creative experiences, behind-the-scenes gallery tours, artist studio excursions and hands-on workshops. The Visual Field is such a creative experience!

The Visual Field was delivered alongside our program partners the Institute of Modern Art (IMA) and offered rich and exciting opportunities for young people interested in creative pursuits and a career in the arts after school and was a fun school holiday experience!

Thanks to all the talented and enthusiastic young creatives that joined us for this exciting program.

Our By Request Program recently had the opportunity to custom design a collaborative and rewarding week on Thursday Island for the Torres Strait Regional Authority at the Gab Titui Cultural Centre.  Delivered by multidisciplinary artist, Kellie O’Dempsey, participants explored ways of transforming their 2D work into digital media formats inspiring ways they can expand their art within a space. Across the 3 day workshop, a talented group of local artists skill shared and explored a range of digital media skills resulting in many beautiful creations.

The results were so inspiring in this wonderful community environment!

Flying Arts By Request Program is dedicated to working with the Queensland community to deliver meaningful programs in person or online that meet the specific needs of your school or community group.  For more information, please contact the team via email here.

CASE STUDY: Gympie Regional Council

In early 2023, the Gympie Regional Gallery was the successful recipient of the Regional Arts Fund’s project grant. Together three Gympie artists collaborated to present 22.96 / receding, a multi-faceted exhibition that commemorated the one-year anniversary of the devastating Gympie floods. The collaborative exhibition was held at Gympie Regional Gallery and invited the community to engage with a narrative that is not defined by the worst that the river can do, but by what the river provides.

Through the Regional Arts Fund project grant funding, Miriam Innes, Joolie Gibbs and Leeroy Todd created thought-provoking and engaging artworks and programs which voiced the unspoken impacts of the natural disaster on the social, environmental and economic fabric of the Gympie region.
