The
Regional Arts Fund is an ongoing program that provides approximately
3.6 million dollars per year to support artists and communities in
regional and remote areas. The Regional Arts Fund is part of the
Australian Government’s Arts and Cultural Development Program that
supports participation in, and access to, Australia’s arts and culture
through developing and supporting cultural expression.
The
Regional Arts Fund is managed by Regional Arts Australia on behalf of
the Australian Government and administrated by Flying Arts in

Nine Arts Projects Supported in Latest Round of
the Regional Arts Fund Queensland Grants.
Nine
new arts projects will take place in regional and remote Queensland
over the next twelve months thanks to significant funding from the
Australian Government’s Regional Arts Fund (RAF) grants. Flying Arts
Alliance Inc. and Regional Arts Australia are pleased to announce the
successful recipients of RAF Project Grants in Queensland totalling
$211,543.
Projects include a new collaboration between Black Image Band, Normanby
Aboriginal Corporation and Topology to deliver On-Country Creative
Bootcamps on Normanby Station for local emerging First Nations
musicians to mentor them through the process of developing and
recording new work, with a focus on increasing their confidence to
perform before live audiences.
Successful recipients will deliver strong arts projects in diverse
locations across the State, including, Proserpine, Townsville, Charters
Towers, Mount Morgan, Cherbourg, Woorabinda, Normanton, Bundaberg,
Mackay, Cairns, Toowoomba, Redlands, Caloundra, Currumbin, Cooktown,
Blackall and Biloela. Projects cover a wide variety of cross-artforms
including Music, Theatre, Puppetry, Visual Arts, Dance and Crafts.
Projects deliver a strong focus on community engagement, artistic
skills sharing, and creative development, with many opportunities
available for local artists and art enthusiasts to engage in quality
arts festivals, performances and workshops.

Quick Response Grants aim to support small arts or cultural projects
that cannot be funded by other means because of their nature or timing.
For example, you may wish to attend a workshop or complete a project
within a certain time frame and cannot access appropriate funding
through any other means.

The
June Quick Response Grant round is open for applications and closes
11:59pm 30 June 2023. All applicants will be notified
of decisions by Friday 7 July 2023.

The Project Grants stream
supports applications which benefit the community, increase access and
participation, and/or provide direct benefits to artists/arts workers.
Project Grants provide major funding for high-quality arts projects
benefiting regional or remote artists, arts workers, audiences, and
communities.

The
second round for the 2023 RAF Project Grants will open in on the 3
July 2023 and will close at 11:59
18 August 2023. This round is for projects from 1
January 2024.

Teho Ropeyarn's Ramsay Art Prize artwork
Ropeyarn
is from the Angkamuthi and Yadhaykana clans and grew up in Injinoo
Community, Cape York Peninsula, Queensland.
In
May, Ropeyarn received funding from the RAF Quick Response Grant to
assist with the costs of purchasing materials and labour fees to
produce a significant work for inclusion in the Ramsay Art Prize 2023.

All eyes on the Artists of Bribie!
Thanks
to the RAF Quick Response Grant, Bribie Island Community Arts Centre
were able to research, design and produce the 'Artists of Bribie'
Art Trail Map.
500
hard copies of the map have been distributed around Bribie Island and
feature local artists and where to find them.

Meet Colleen Helmore!
Helmore
was a RAF Quick Response Grant recipient in the 2023 February Round.
Through
the RAF QRG, Helmore was able to attend and showcase her artwork WONDER
at FabrianoinAcquarello; an international Watercolour Conference in
Italy.
WONDER was
selected as 1 of 35 Australian paintings to represent Australia at the
conference.

Gympie Regional Council: 22.96 / receding
Date: 14
February – 15 April 2023
Location: Gympie, QLD
In
early 2023, three Gympie artists collaborated to present 22.96 / receding, a multi-faceted
exhibition which commemorated the one-year anniversary of the
devastating Gympie floods. The collaborative exhibition was held at Gympie Regional Gallery and invited
the community to engage with a narrative that is not defined by the
worst that the river can do, but by what the river provides.
Through
the Regional
Arts Fund’s project grant funding, Miriam
Innes, Joolie Gibbs and Leeroy
Todd created thought-provoking and engaging artworks and
programs which voiced the unspoken impacts of the natural disaster on
the social, environmental and economic fabric of the Gympie region.
During the exhibition, fifteen public programs were offered and welcomed
over 2,000 visitors to engage with the artworks, artist talks,
workshops, panel discussions and projection art...
