Media Release: Regional Arts Fund to boost arts and cultural recovery in QLD

Regional Queensland artists, artsworkers, organisations and communities impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic will be eligible to apply for up to $5,000 worth of funding to meet their immediate needs as part of the latest Regional Arts Fund (RAF) Recovery Boost program, administered in Queensland by Flying Arts Alliance Inc.

The funding will be provided through the RAF Relief grant — the first of three stages in the RAF Recovery Boost program — with eligible parties able to receive funding to purchase or replace assets, support arts practice (including a self-directed residency, research and development), small projects and professional development opportunities.

Applications for RAF Relief grants will open from 9 am, 1 July 2020 through to 5 pm, 30 August or until funds are expended.

Flying Arts Alliance Executive Officer Kerryanne Farrer said applicants are encouraged to use the funds to keep the arts front and center in regional Queensland communities.

“The arts are essential to thriving communities across regional and rural Queensland and are at the forefront of the recovery process during and after the coronavirus pandemic,” said Ms Farrer.

“The RAF Recovery Boost program is a one-off targeted investment provided by the Australian Government to strengthen the fabric of the creative ecosystem across regional Australia.

“We encourage artists, artsworkers and organisations to assess their current situation and target their application according to resources, projects or professional development opportunities which will strengthen their creative pursuits into the future.”

Round 2 of RAF Relief grants will open 14 September 2020.

The second and third stages of the RAF Recovery Boost program, RAF Renewal and RAF Recovery grants, will be open for applications in August 2020 and January 2021.

The Australian Government’s Regional Arts Fund is provided through Regional Arts Australia. In Queensland, the Regional Arts Fund is administered by Flying Arts Alliance according to the objectives and general eligibility determined by the Australian Government.
