News: February

Opportunities Abound!

The Flying Arts office is abuzz with anticipation this week as we get set to kick off the first workshops and events for the year! Are you as excited as we are?

We have so many professional development opportunities open to artists, artsworkers, young artists and educators coming up over the next couple of months. Here are a few highlights:

For Artists + Artsworkers

  • Registrations for the Exhibition Development Program in Cairns close 17 February. Get in now to find out how to stand out from the competition when you’re putting in proposals!
  • Do you want to turn your creative practice into a viable business? Our upcoming workshop, ‘Prepare and Write a Business Plan’ will give you the tools you need to get up and running.

For Young Artists

  • Registrations for Art Enquirer, our young artist development program focused on arts writing, close 17 March. Year 12 students will hone their skills and have the opportunity to be professionally published!
  • Regional and remote students are encouraged to contact Flying Arts to determine their eligability for a travel subsidy thanks to Brian Tucker Accounting to attend Art Enquirer.

For Educators

  • Learn some fun, classroom friendly ideas that combine art and science! Put microscopes to good use by turning them into instruments of art.

Queensland Regional Art Awards 2017 Theme Announced!

We’re thrilled to announce the theme of this year’s Queensland Regional Art Awards: Iconic Queensland.

Queensland is rich with iconic structures, people, locations, events and lifestyles that shape the State’s identity. We want to see what artists consider to be the unique and iconic elements of their own region or community!

Entries open 3 April. Further dates and details will be announced soon.
