Facilitator
Heather Fairbairn is an arts worker with a background in arts management, having held positions with the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, The Song Room, and Access Arts QLD. She is also is a British-Australian stage director, working across theatre and opera.
Having successfully forged a sustainable freelance arts practice, Heather has collaborated with companies including La Boite Theatre Company, Opera Queensland, Sydney Theatre Company, Arcola Theatre, Schaubühne Berlin, Royal Court Theatre, Royal Opera House (Covent Garden), Finnish National Opera, Théâtre des Champs Elysées, and Festival d’Aix-en-Provence. Her work has toured Europe to Belgium, Luxembourg, Spain, and Portugal.
Heather holds a Master of Fine Arts (Directing) from the National Institute of Dramatic Art, a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Drama & Creative Writing) from the University of Queensland, and a BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts (Musical Theatre Performance) from the BRIT School for Performing Arts, London. She regularly lectures at the University of Queensland and on the NIDA post-graduate directing course.
