Damien Tillack has been a teacher since 1996 and a state primary school principal since 2013.
Damien started mural projects with students with his Year 5-7 Art class as a teaching principal in a rural coal-mining town on a grey wall amidst a drought-ridden landscape in 2013.
A year later, in a high-crime city neighbourhood, Damien and his Art teacher used school mural projects over five years, fostering ‘the resilient child’, futures in art, and connectedness to place. These school community mural projects continue in his current school.
