Your Facilitator: Serene Fernando is a Gamilaraay woman of north-west New South Wales, who is based in Brisbane. Through her extensive experience as an educator and researcher, Serene has cultivated expert knowledge in historical Indigenous research using cultural interpretive frameworks to decolonise historical archives. She has led projects at the National Museum of Australia which highlighted Indigenous interpretation of the past through Indigenous storytelling and cultural worldviews. Serene’s work within State Library of Queensland’s exhibition team comprises of building the curatorial framework for historical content selection and Indigenous narrative construction.
