10:00am – 4:00pm each day

Curious about a career in the arts after school or wanting to immerse yourself in the world of contemporary art? The Visual Field is an immersive program for students in years 10 to 12 to explore career pathways in the arts. This program is a joint initiative between Flying Arts Alliance and the Institute of Modern Art.

Highlights for The Visual Field include:

  • Meet artists, curators, and arts professionals
  • Engage with workshops, exhibition tours, and panel discussions
  • Be inspired by local, national, and international artists and artworks
  • Build critical and creative thinking skills
  • Connect with likeminded peers

Program materials will be supplied by Flying Arts. This weekend is fully catered with lunches and snacks.

Please bring:

  • Materials for writing, photographing or documenting your experience
  • Face masks are optional
  • A hat and sunscreen
  • Enclosed shoes

Applications close Friday the 13th of September 2024 at 5pm.

Additional Information

Your facilitators: Nadine Schmoll is an educator and contemporary artist with 12 years experience working in learn and engagement for diverse audiences. Nadine holds a Graduate Diploma in Secondary Education (Visual Arts) and has extensive experience in the development and delivery of programs and resources for primary, secondary and tertiary audiences. She has worked across curriculum areas, including Visual Art, Design, Fashion, HASS/History, Science, English and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures. Currently, Nadine is Education Manager for the Institute of Modern Art. Prior to this she was Learn Curator at Museum of Brisbane and Workshop Coordinator for Reverse Garbage Queensland. 

 

 

Sophie Delaney is a Visual Artist and Curator who has extensive experience in exhibition/event management, programs and curation. Sophie studied a Bachelor of Fine Art (Visual Art) at the Queensland University Technology and graduated in 2023 with a Distinction. At the beginning of her degree, Sophie was awarded the prestigious three-year Excellence Scholarship for Elite Visual and Performing Arts. Upon graduation, Sophie was awarded the Milani Family Art Prize for her immersive VR and digital installation Am I Safe Here? (2023). Sophie grew up in regional Queensland and is currently the Programs Manager at Flying Arts Alliance. She delights in working alongside regional artists as this is where she had her start. Sophie is also the Founder and Curator of Emergence Collective; a non-for-profit art collective designed by and for emerging artists in Brisbane (Meanjin) established in 2021.
