This project is one of six artist and social enterprise collaborations for A Fierce Hope, the keynote exhibition for Brisbane’s newest art and cultural hub – Adderton: house & heart of mercy, opening in August 2019.
Blue Jean Sisters is a project by artist Belinda Smith that responds to the ethical activities of clothing brand Outland Denim – a social enterprise providing sustainable employment and training opportunities for women rescued from slavery in Cambodia.
Makers and Crafters are invited to participate by making dolls from recycled denim to contribute to the installation of 2000 dolls, each one individually handmade. Workshops are being held and craft groups and individuals are getting involved to add to the collection of dolls. A pattern for the dolls is available online and progress of the project can be followed on instagram at @belindasmith_art
Come along to a ‘Making day’ organised by the artist (see link for dates) or gather your friends and host your own.
