I received a very warm welcome on a windy winter’s day at a college, Ipswich, where I facilitated a workshop for their annual event. For several days regular school classes are suspended and the students engage in a variety of arts activities in both the performing and visual arts.
Twenty-one students ranging from year seven to twelve attended my workshop. I provided small fabric bags and bread bags cut into strips then taught the students a knotless netting technique which they used to create a decorative cover over the fabric bag. The use of colourful bread bags reproduced striking results.
The enthusiastic, well-mannered students and their delightful teacher, Liz, were a joy to work with.
