Are you curious about how to turn a creative arts practice into products? Discuss and develop strategies for your arts product ideas and discover their potential with this introductory online workshop. Topics include:
– Understanding merchandise, meaningful collaborations, and how products and services can add to your current arts practice
– Exploring online platforms to market, distribute and sell your products and potential services
– Being inspired and creating a document that helps you plan and pursue your goals after the workshop
Make your art work for you!
This online workshop is led by artist, entrepreneur, and creative consultant Katie Whyte. This event is for artists, arts workers and creatives at any career stage. Come along if you are a hobbyist, emerging, or mid-career and interested in making merchandise and art services (and money) from your existing arts practice.
You will need:
– To have a Google account to access Google Classrooms
(you do not need to use Gmail to sign up for a Google account (Instructions to use an existing email address here)
– To complete a survey that will provide information about your own arts practice before the workshop
To bring on the day:
– Any existing ideas for products and services you can offer
– Reliable internet access and device to access ClickMeeting and Google Classroom
– Pen and paper for note-taking, if desired
This workshop will be completed in two sessions on the day: 10.30am – 12pm, with a short break, then 1:00pm – 2.30pm.
Katie Whyte is an artist and former vision therapist based in Toowoomba, Queensland. She has studied both painting and vision extensively in pursuit of how we draw meaning from our surroundings. With this knowledge of visual perception and almost twenty years’ experience as a practicing visual artist, Whyte is active in the creative community, helping others navigate their practice to find value and purpose. Over time, her work has taken on many forms through collaborations and merchandising opportunities. Currently, she is studying library and information services to find ways of linking creative individuals with information, resources and their community.
