In September 2016 Shan Wood was artist in residence at the National Gallery of Namibia in Windhoek. During this time Shan worked in one of the galleries, so visitors to the gallery could interact with the artist and learn more about the approaches artists utilize generally, but particularly in relation to contemporary drawing. Since her return Shan has been working towards a solo exhibition. Inspiration for the images comes from the immediate landscape of Namibia, from the heritage of the indigenous peoples of Namibia including carved shells, shields, animals etc. Most of the works are completed using encaustic (pigmented wax). The exhibition will open at 6pm on 1 August and be on display for the month of August. To view Shan’s website see the link below. You can also contact Shan at : shanart4@nullgmail.com
