Flying Arts artist Casselle Mountford facilitated a sculptural weaving workshop in the wonderful, natural setting of Mapleton for students from a nearby high school.
“The students were delightful to work with,” said Casselle. “They responded enthusiastically to this sculptural weaving workshop and many students said that they will include the techniques and materials I showed them in sculptural work they will produce for their senior art studies.”
She believes that the workshop will encourage teachers and students in using natural materials in innovative ways. It also helped develop Casselle’s own practice – she introduced coloured thread and dyed raffia to create interesting effects in the woven forms.
Casselle is pleased with the outcomes of the workshop. “It will have the positive result of both teachers and students engaging in the creation of more 3D sculptural work.”
This workshop was booked as part of our By Request programs.
By Request programs are available on-demand, and can be booked on behalf of schools or creative communities such as groups, festivals, local government and organisations. By Request programs can be delivered by our Flying Arts Artist and Facilitator Team anywhere across Queensland.
