Spend 45 minutes online with John Stafford, the Director of the leading contemporary art gallery: Onespace. This online consultation is an opportunity to discuss and receive professional feedback on your artworks and art practice.

John has a 35-year career in the visual arts in Australia. Together with Jodie Cox, he is one of the founders of CREATIVEMOVE Pty Ltd established in 2012, and an ongoing Director of Onespace Gallery since 2016. John provides leadership and curatorial direction of gallery programming and operations, interacting daily with represented artists, collectors, curators and gallery and museum colleagues throughout Australia and overseas.

John has served on numerous government and not-for-profit boards, currently with NorthSite Contemporary Arts (Cairns) and the Queensland Children’s Hospital Arts Program Committee (Brisbane). He has provided consultancy and curatorial services to all levels of government, Aboriginal and government corporations, statutory authorities, galleries and museums, architectural firms and private developers, and other built environment companies.

John previously led the Queensland Government’s visual arts program including the nationally recognised Art Built-in (1999-2006) and art+place (2007-2012) programs. As Director of Visual Arts, Craft and Design at Arts Queensland for over two decades, John led a team delivering: arts grant programs for organisations and individuals; Backing Indigenous Arts initiative, including the Cairns Indigenous Art Fair; the Queensland Design Strategy 2020; and Queensland’s participation in the national Visual Arts and Craft Strategy.

John is a graduate of the Queensland College of Art (1984), Griffith University, and a Churchill Fellow (2003) investigating major public art commissioning programs in the USA. He practised as a visual artist and curator in the 1980s and 90s before moving into arts administration. He is an award winner in academia, industry, and government.
