Explore expressive oil painting that incorporates drawing and collage in this hands-on workshop.

Oil painting is rich in history and significance in the art world. Despite the continuing evolution of modern technology and techniques in art making, it continues to be a relevant and powerful media in contemporary art practice, and in the Visual Arts curriculum.

Using photographs and references as a starting point, you will be guided through the design and development process to produce your own artworks, with a balance of technique and free expression. This workshop will encourage you and your students to be confident, curious and adventurous in the use of oils, leaving behind traditional techniques to discover its full potential as a vehicle for self-expression.

You’ll walk away with a new appreciation for oils within a contemporary context, as well as a new-found confidence to work with this sometimes difficult medium.
